How to deep clean your bathtub


The bathtub is a place to unwind and relax, but having a dirty bathtub makes those things too difficult. Bathtubs can build up dirt relatively fast if you don’t take care of it at least once a month. 

Prior to cleaning

Before cleaning your bathtub make sure you remove all loofahs, bottles, toiletries, and toys. Wipe down the products that you removed from the bathtub. This is to prevent the tub from getting dirty again after you clean it.

Clean the walls

  1. Spray the walls with an all-purpose cleaning solution
  2. Fill up a bucket with warm water and dish soap 
  3. Use a sponge to wipe down the walls
  4. Rinse the wall with the warm water

Get rid of soap scum

  1. Grab the corners of the tub that touch the wall with a small cleaning brush
  2. Rinse away the dirt with warm water 

How to clean your bathtub step-by-step with baking soda 

  1. Fill up your bathtub with hot water 
  2. Add baking soda to all surfaces of the bathtub 
  3. Flip a small bucket with dish soap and hot water 
  4. Start scrubbing the bathtub with a sponge 
  5. Dip the sponge in the bucket with soap water every few scrubs 
  6. Once the bathtub starts to the clean you can drain the water
  7. Use a hand spray or the bucket filled with water to rinse out the bathtub
  8. Use a microfiber towel to completely dry the tub

Make sure to clean the drain

  1. Mix a half a cup of baking soda and distilled vinegar 
  2. Poor this down your bathtub drain 
  3. Let the mixture sit in there for several minutes 
  4. Then poor hot water to clear the drain

  • Baking soda 
  • Small bucket 
  • Microfiber towel
  • Sponge
  • Dish soap 

If that doesn’t work and the bathtub is just too dirty you can try using strong chemicals to remove the tough stains from the tub.

How to clean a bathtub step-by-step with bleach

  1. Fill up a spray bottle with half a cup of bleach and water
  2. Spray the bathtub with the mixture 
  3. Let the mixture sit for  at least five minutes
  4. After five minutes have past, begin to scrub the surfaces of the bathtub with a sponge
  5. Use a hand spray or a bucket filled with hot water to rinse out the bathtub
  6. Use a microfiber towel to completely dry.
